Media Monday: Media & Friendships

This is going to have to be short and sweet because I need to get to bed. Today is the first day in several days that I have been able to get on the computer.

To me facebook friends are not always 'real' friends. I have the people that I'm close with that I actually invest time in but then there are the people that are more like acquaintances. I have thought about deleting everyone that is not really a friend but for some reason I just feel like I should keep everyone on there.

I have discovered that friendships on facebook can be good and bad.

GOOD:

  • Easy way to keep in contact
  • Easy way to stay updated with other's lives
  • Able to know specific ways to pray for people
  • Reconnecting with people from the past
  • Chatting with friends while doing some computer work
BAD:
  • Sometimes to much contact is a bad thing
  • Gossip can start because of the status updates
  • Instead of praying for people jealousy of what others have can take over
  • Reconnecting with the wrong people from the past (ex's that might be tempting)
  • Chatting instead of getting work done that needs to be done whether on the computer or in the house
  • Spending to much time on the computer and neglecting family
These are just a few of things that could happen with all the social media out there. Many of these have happened to me in the past but as I grew to learn about them I made changes to make sure that I'm going what is right by God and His will for me.

So check what you are doing daily/weekly/monthly and make sure that you are happy with all the choices you are making and if your not then change them. It's worth it!

Happy Father's Day!

Today is father's day and most people are getting together and celebrating with family. Dads, grandpas and uncles all celebrating together the joys of being a father. Maybe getting a chance to relax and enjoy just sitting around watching the kids play and being surrounded with family. That's what father's day has always looked like for us. We would always gather at my parents house. First, with my grandparents when I was growing up for dinner and a day of enjoying being together. Then as I grew older my sister and I would make sure to spend the day with our dad. Then we got married and had kids of our own and the tradition continued. We would bring all the kids and enjoy BBQing at my parents house enjoying time together. This year things are different. We can't just jump in the car and head over for a BBQ. We can't sit around on the couch or on the patio talking and laughing together. This year we are 12 hours away from where I've always been for father...

Week #2 on THM

Well it's officially the end of week 2 on Trim Healthy Mama! I have tried some more new recipes from the book and from pinterest and I'm having so much fun with it. I also order some xylitol online to save money. I didn't realize how much sweetener I would be using but when you can make sweets for any meal or snack through out the day you can use quite a bit. Favorite Meals this week E pancakes from the book! Yum! I added in frozen berries to them while cooking and they were great and the boys loved them too. They got to have the added whipped cream or syrup on theirs. Fat Stripping Frappa! OMGOSH! This is going to be my go to summer morning drink! I can see myself making one of these up first thing in the morning to get my day going and then enjoying a yummy breakfast 3 hours later. Soon as warm weather hits Hubby's schedule will be packed full daily so my mornings will start early, like 5am early! So having a breakfast at 8:30 will be perfect timing! Cheese ...
