Well here we go again! Starting cloth diapering with baby #2! We started cloth diapers the day before Goose's first 5K . My mom was completely against me starting it before such a big event but I couldn't help it! I was so excited to get started! I had plenty of diapers to keep going for another week with disposable ones but I just didn't want to wait! We didn't start right away because we didn't have enough cloth diapers to do it full time and I knew that I wouldn't be good at doing cloth only part time. Thankfully a good friend of mine called me up and said that there were some cloth diapers at a garage sale. I'm pretty picky about used cloth diapers but I figured I'd stop and see if they were good. Well they were almost brand new bumGenius  diapers! There were 6 of them which is exactly what I needed to start even though I would love to have a few more! I checked them all out, bought them for $5 (totally would have spent $15), brought them home and ...

I gotta say that I love cloth diapering but this new Thristies Duo Diaper that I won on Our Growing Garden's  giveaway is great. We used it right away and it is by far the best diaper I have ever used. I'm going to get pictures of it tomorrow after I wash it again but I just wanted to share that if you are wanting to try cloth diapering I think these are the best. One thing that's going to be super helpful for me is that Rex is now interested in taking his own diaper off when he wants to sit on the potty and I can have him put it in the bag to be washed without taking the liner out. So we are on day six of our adventure back into the cloth diapers. We are actually doing pretty well. I went to two different diaper stores and was able to get a new wet bag that works great for at home when we are on the main level and for when we are out and in the diaper bag. It will hold about 10 to 15 diapers if need be. This is awesome because I use to have to carry two wet bags if we were out and about.  I also got a new butt cream that is safe to use with cloth diapers and that is made locally which I love. I bought this for at night because his poor little butt was fire engine red when he woke up in the morning. We do use two diaper liners at night time but it still wasn't helping but this new cream is so I'm excited. That means no more disposals (until our cruise).  We also got a swim diaper so that way we don't have to keep buying disposal for those as well. He will be using this a lot. So people that knew me when Rex was first born know we used cloth diapers and we did so until close to his first birthday. My mom did all the research for us and we got the bum genius 3.0 and we loved them. The only reason why we stopped using them was because all of a sudden Rex started getting a diaper rash that left his poor bottom fire engine red. We bought disposables and I washed and tried and washed and dried and washed and dried and they just kept giving him a rash so I packed them up until I could give the company a call. Well it's been a year later and I finally made that call. They let me know that it was just soap build up and that I needed to just use Dawn Original Soap with some bleach and to rinse them until I see no suds and then rinse again just to make sure and then they should be fine. During that year off I got spoiled with using disposables and it is going to be a long hard road back but it's something that needs to be done. With M leaving his job and...
