Day One Set Up It's only been two weeks since we've brought our chicks home from the store and I'm amazed at how fast they have grown! I swear that each day they change. They grow new feathers, they grow bigger, and they are now learning how to fly! I'm amazed at just how much they change each day. 2nd day home. So tiny! But the most amazing thing about the chicks is the responsibility that Monkey has taken on by caring for them. Every morning he is up giving them clean food and water. A few hours later more food and water. A few more hours he's at it again. Having so many chicks requires lots and lots of feeding and watering throughout the day. Thank goodness we are home to care for them! 5 days after we got chicks Aunt M got some new chicks. Had to expand the chick coop. The older chickens are still my responsibility but I think that once the chicks make there way out to the big coop that Monkey will start helping me care for them as well. ...

I work hard most days as a homemaker. I have the house to care for, laundry, dishes, bathroom messes from little boys, never ending dust from living in the country. I have boys to educate and entertain all hours of the day and sometimes during the night. I have dogs that need my attention and now I have adult chickens to care for outside and baby chicks living in my house to care for. I also have to look after myself and make sure that I'm cared for as well and not forgotten with everything else I have to do throughout the days. But...I have a husband that needs to be cared for too. He works hard for our family too. Every day he wakes early (some days earlier than others) and heads to works. My husband in particular  works a hard physical labor job. He works all summer long outside in the humid heat of Oklahoma. It's miserable out there and currently it's only June. By September we will be wishing for June heat again. My husband needs a healthy breakfast to star...

If you read my post about the children's books we read this week you know I had a crazy week of catch up from last weekend, working with Hubby and driving the 30 minutes to and from church twice a day to get Monkey to and from camp. It was busy! Even through all that and using my one child only time to get some much needed minimizing done in the boys room I was able to get through some reading. I'm glad that I was able to enjoy some down time reading too. Books I Read This Week The Brainy Bunch I have read part of this book before we made the move to OK because the idea really interested me. I'm not sure that my boys will start college at age 12 like this family but by mid-teens I could see them dual enrolled in some course at the local college. The beginning of the book was hard for me to get through. I like hearing about their story and how they got where they are in life but I really picked it up for more of how they accomplished it. This week we didn't read many books. We have been busy! Catching up after a busy weekend, helping Daddy on a job, and making the 30 minute drive twice a day to church to drop off and pick up Monkey so he could attend camp didn't leave much time for anything above surviving the normal dishes, laundry, pick up toys routine. Plus I had to use my time wisely of only having one child around and spent that time getting their closet mostly cleaned out. More and more junk gone! Books Read This Week Blue Chicken I read this to Goose one night and it was super cute. I loved how the book was coming to life and the chickens were causing big messes for the illustrator. Plus with Goose still figuring out his colors we got to talk about what colors the animals were and what colors they changed into. Over all it was a cute book to read. Five Little Chicks I picked out this book for Goose because it has counting as part of the story. He's picking up things a little ...
