Children't Books Read This Week

This week we didn't read many books. We have been busy! Catching up after a busy weekend, helping Daddy on a job, and making the 30 minute drive twice a day to church to drop off and pick up Monkey so he could attend camp didn't leave much time for anything above surviving the normal dishes, laundry, pick up toys routine. Plus I had to use my time wisely of only having one child around and spent that time getting their closet mostly cleaned out. More and more junk gone!

Books Read This Week

Blue Chicken

I read this to Goose one night and it was super cute. I loved how the book was coming to life and the chickens were causing big messes for the illustrator. Plus with Goose still figuring out his colors we got to talk about what colors the animals were and what colors they changed into. Over all it was a cute book to read.

Five Little Chicks

I picked out this book for Goose because it has counting as part of the story. He's picking up things a little slower that Monkey did but life wasn't quite as crazy when Monkey was two. It was just me and him home most days by ourselves. I try to make sure that when I pick out stories that we can still use them for learning above just enjoying the story. This story has a great story line too. Mama chicken teaching her five little chicks the way of life. You can see mama chickens love for her chicks throughout the whole book. I love books like this one!

Chicken and Cat

The boys have enjoyed "reading" this one. Goose I think has had the most fun with it. It's a cute book with only pictures. So Goose will go and grab it and tell me everything that is happening on the pages and just laughs at the silly things Chicken and Cat do. I almost didn't pick up the book from the library because Monkey is working on reading so words are an important part to that but I figured this would give him the chance to make his own story up and that's an important part of learning too.

Books For Next Week

Since we didn't get through all our books this past week we will be spending another week learning about chickens. If it wasn't for the fact that we have baby chicks and full grown ones outside we might just return them and try another time. But we need to do our reading on these so we can make sure we are caring for the our animals the best way we can. Click here for more chicken books!

Holiday Traditions?

I'm so excited to be co-hosting with Melissa! I have been a long time reader & finally got around to co-hosting! I can't wait to see all of your holiday traditions & I'm sure add a few to my list too! Holiday Traditions? What are those? I'm not sure we have any set up in our family. We never really had anything that we did every year growing up either. So I'm not surprised that we haven't thought about setting anything up for our kids either. Last year we tried doing the  Three Wise Men Gifts  but I of course bought more than just 3 gifts. So what is the plan this year for holiday traditions in our house? Bass Pro Shop Winter Wonderland to visit Santa Three wise men gifts  One Santa gift plus the stocking Baking cookies at Granny & Great Popa's house Baking cookies at Grandma & Popa's house with cousins & then heading to the local fire department & police station to share with the men & women that keep us safe throug

My Pregnancy Story with Monkey

So I have one of those crazy "I didn't know I was pregnant" stories. Yes I didn't know I was pregnant until I was pretty far along but I will get to that.  In May 2008 we picked up and moved out of state. At this time we had been completely off birth control for 2 years and nothing. We also found out when we first started trying that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)  which basically meant "good luck getting pregnant". We decided that we would start the adoption process if we were not pregnant by the time we were 30 so we had a few years (still do actually! Yeah God!) So we were just enjoying life in Oklahoma and enjoying the small town life. Every Sunday morning we would walk down the street and enjoy breakfast at Selena's, we'd sit on our front porch and talk with the neighbors, and visit family in town at least once a week. Starting close to October I started feeling like something was wrong with me so I went to the OU campus in Tu
