Monkey's 4th Birthday!

We had a great birthday for Monkey. It's been over a month but I've shared with you how crazy we have been over the whole month of April so I'm just not getting around to sharing his train birthday. First let me share that my fears of the party being a big fail were a little over the top. Monkey really was excited to have they few friends and family that were able to come. I have to remember that little ones don't care about things the same way that I think they do. Then to think about the fact that we had to move the party to the next weekend again wasn't that big of a deal for Monkey either and it sure did bring much better weather which meant a fun day at the park instead of having to have all the kids playing in the house.

OK time to get to the party! Monkey wanted a train party so we had a few little things to make our trip to the park train related. A train hat thanks to Jude's mom who had extras to share. A train track made out of electrical tape on the ground to the table. And of course a few train crossing signs too.

First we let the kids play because you can't bring kids to the park and then make them sit down right away. It was a pretty windy afternoon but nice and sunny which was helpful.

After a little play time it was time to get to our main activity for the day...decorating our 'cakes'. We made trains out of rice crispy treats! Not just normal rice crispy treats though...we had plain, chocolate and rainbow. Can you guess what the kids chose?

Yep RAINBOW! Then it was time for them to add the colored frosting and candies! (This is the reason I wanted it at the park...could you imagine giving the kids this much sugar and having it snowing many inches outside? Not me.)

Time to enjoy the fruits of their labor!
Then a quick present time at the park so we could get out of the wind that was starting to get pretty bad. (It seemed that way then but then I spent 2 weeks in OKC and realized that the wind was nothing here in CO.)

Then we finished up gifts at home. Games, movies, books, remote control car, clothes...etc! He made out great for a party that didn't ask for gifts to attend.

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY MONKEY!
We Love You!

Holiday Traditions?

I'm so excited to be co-hosting with Melissa! I have been a long time reader & finally got around to co-hosting! I can't wait to see all of your holiday traditions & I'm sure add a few to my list too! Holiday Traditions? What are those? I'm not sure we have any set up in our family. We never really had anything that we did every year growing up either. So I'm not surprised that we haven't thought about setting anything up for our kids either. Last year we tried doing the  Three Wise Men Gifts  but I of course bought more than just 3 gifts. So what is the plan this year for holiday traditions in our house? Bass Pro Shop Winter Wonderland to visit Santa Three wise men gifts  One Santa gift plus the stocking Baking cookies at Granny & Great Popa's house Baking cookies at Grandma & Popa's house with cousins & then heading to the local fire department & police station to share with the men & women that keep us safe throug

My Pregnancy Story with Monkey

So I have one of those crazy "I didn't know I was pregnant" stories. Yes I didn't know I was pregnant until I was pretty far along but I will get to that.  In May 2008 we picked up and moved out of state. At this time we had been completely off birth control for 2 years and nothing. We also found out when we first started trying that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)  which basically meant "good luck getting pregnant". We decided that we would start the adoption process if we were not pregnant by the time we were 30 so we had a few years (still do actually! Yeah God!) So we were just enjoying life in Oklahoma and enjoying the small town life. Every Sunday morning we would walk down the street and enjoy breakfast at Selena's, we'd sit on our front porch and talk with the neighbors, and visit family in town at least once a week. Starting close to October I started feeling like something was wrong with me so I went to the OU campus in Tu
