A Day with Auntie M

Auntie M is my sister-in-law who lives in OKC and we just love it when she comes to visit! This time she was able to bring her boys with her so all the cousins got to hang out for about two weeks together. They had a blast! Auntie M also comes up with fun things for us to do and this particular day was a full day of fun for free! (except for buying lunch)

Here in CO we have a Littleton Museum...who knew? I have lived here for almost 30 years and I never knew! (Holy moly that just made me realize the I'm almost 30! Yikes!)

This museum is much more fun than your traditional museum...why?

Well because it is mostly outside with fun animals of course! What else do kids love more?

They have two different eras that they show.

First is a 1860's town which includes a farm with animals they would have raised, donkeys, cows, turkeys, sheep, chickens and a school house.

It was great being able to share things from the past with the kids.

They thought it would be so fun to live out there with all the animals and all the space to run and explore.

Of course this is why part of our family goal is to have property in eastern CO where we can raise such animals as cows, chickens, and maybe a goat or pig.

G, who is starting school this year thought the school house was pretty cool.

Us grown ups really enjoyed taking a break from the hot sun.

The next town was based on 1890.

There was a cool lake there to look at.

There was an actual blacksmith that was working on making a hook for the wall while we were there. G asked him if he painted the hook because the other ones were a gold color instead of black like the one he was working on. So instead of just explaining to G what he was going to do he actually let him help polish it until it was the pretty gold color! It was an awesome experience for G!

Inside the museum they have plenty to look at but the kids really don't allow you to just hang out and read everything. We found a kids corner and they all enjoyed a break reading books.

After the museum we headed down to the airplane park. We all enjoyed eating lunch outside and running in the grass. Goose loved hanging out in the fresh air!

There was also a river that they could play in and on a hot day like it was nothing was more perfect!

Having Auntie M around with her boys is great. We miss them when they are at home but we plan to have much more time together in the near future with some holidays and family vacations we hope to plan in the next year.

Holiday Traditions?

I'm so excited to be co-hosting with Melissa! I have been a long time reader & finally got around to co-hosting! I can't wait to see all of your holiday traditions & I'm sure add a few to my list too! Holiday Traditions? What are those? I'm not sure we have any set up in our family. We never really had anything that we did every year growing up either. So I'm not surprised that we haven't thought about setting anything up for our kids either. Last year we tried doing the  Three Wise Men Gifts  but I of course bought more than just 3 gifts. So what is the plan this year for holiday traditions in our house? Bass Pro Shop Winter Wonderland to visit Santa Three wise men gifts  One Santa gift plus the stocking Baking cookies at Granny & Great Popa's house Baking cookies at Grandma & Popa's house with cousins & then heading to the local fire department & police station to share with the men & women that keep us safe throug

My Pregnancy Story with Monkey

So I have one of those crazy "I didn't know I was pregnant" stories. Yes I didn't know I was pregnant until I was pretty far along but I will get to that.  In May 2008 we picked up and moved out of state. At this time we had been completely off birth control for 2 years and nothing. We also found out when we first started trying that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)  which basically meant "good luck getting pregnant". We decided that we would start the adoption process if we were not pregnant by the time we were 30 so we had a few years (still do actually! Yeah God!) So we were just enjoying life in Oklahoma and enjoying the small town life. Every Sunday morning we would walk down the street and enjoy breakfast at Selena's, we'd sit on our front porch and talk with the neighbors, and visit family in town at least once a week. Starting close to October I started feeling like something was wrong with me so I went to the OU campus in Tu
