What I am Embracing!

Today I am going to fully embrace Genesis 2:18! I know I just wrote about this in my priorities but it is a really hard concept to accept and embrace for myself.

"Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone.
I will make a helper who is just right for him.'"
Genesis 2:18

Being a homemaker in 2011 is looked down upon. I really never feel that people think that I'm making the right choice and that I should be out there in school, building a career, and making sure that I am fulfilled. This is what makes me fill like I'm unfilled. Staying at home and "making a home" for my family is what makes me fulfilled.
  • I want my husband to come home and fill love as soon as he enters the door.
  • I want Rex to grow up with a mom that is home and able to be there for him when ever he needs me.
  • I want to be able to help my parents and be available to them as they get older so they don't have to be put in a nursing home and be cared for by others.
  • I want to do what God created me to do which I believe is the things I have listed above.
Becoming this wife also means that I need to embrace the art of submission. Don't cringe at the thought. The Word says that we are to be submissive to our husbands that that they are to love us as Jesus loved the church.

And, further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church.
He gave up his life for her, to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God's word.
In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.

Ephesians 5:21-26, 28

This is part of being married! I chose to be married and God has gotten us through some very big challenges and I really want to serve God because He has been so good to us. There is one other important reason why I need to embrace this new life and that is found in 1 Peter 3:1-2.

Wives in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the Word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

1 Peter 3:1-2

Miah does not believe in the Word and says that he does not believe in a God so that means that even though I am not suppose to change him I am suppose to be the example, the light, of who God is and how He loves him. By being his helper and being submissive I will follow the Word and God in return can work more effectively in Miah's heart.

Now before you click away from my page and say this is crazy I want to tell you that being submissive does not mean that I can't express myself to Miah, that he is always right, or that Miah is any better than I am. God has created the family structure as a way for protection of our lives. If we choose to walk inside this shield than God can protect us but if we chose our own way than we open ourselves up for the enemy. If we allow the enemy into our lives, house, hearts then things are going to start falling apart all around us. Just look at the state our world is in. It is filled with evil and things that seem to be good are actually not. Our morality has changed because each day we are exposed to more and more content that makes us think that evil things are actually good.

I want my home to be a place of comfort, love, and security and I can not provide this to my family on my own. I will choose to embrace this new role of helper and let God cover my home so the enemy can not enter into our family. I'm also going to set aside more time that I can be in prayer and in God's Word so that I do not slip from this new role. I will be the best homemaker that I can be because I'm going to keep God on my team and not push him out.

For I can do everything through Christ , who gives me strength.

 Philippians 4:13

My Pregnancy Story with Monkey

So I have one of those crazy "I didn't know I was pregnant" stories. Yes I didn't know I was pregnant until I was pretty far along but I will get to that.  In May 2008 we picked up and moved out of state. At this time we had been completely off birth control for 2 years and nothing. We also found out when we first started trying that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)  which basically meant "good luck getting pregnant". We decided that we would start the adoption process if we were not pregnant by the time we were 30 so we had a few years (still do actually! Yeah God!) So we were just enjoying life in Oklahoma and enjoying the small town life. Every Sunday morning we would walk down the street and enjoy breakfast at Selena's, we'd sit on our front porch and talk with the neighbors, and visit family in town at least once a week. Starting close to October I started feeling like something was wrong with me so I went to the OU campus in Tu
