Fish and Family

Fishing! Popa has been talking to Rex about fishing for months and I have taken Rex to the park and had to drag him away from other people that are fishing because he would just go and sit next to them and watch them fish instead of heading to the playground to play. Finally we were able to head out and fish. Popa went and got worms (because we read a book that said that's what fish eat) and he got his license and we headed to the lake. So here we are finally fishing and you want to know what Rex does...runs away, throws fits, wants to play, feed ducks, anything but fish. Serious kid you have been begging to fish for weeks. So we are down at the far end the area we are at feeding ducks (someone else gave us a piece of bread) when Popa caught a fish. Then he was kind of excited.

We went to see the fish and he did try and pick it up and touch it at first.

This is him say "fish". It looks like he is grossed out or something but he was just excited that he had a fish.

So now that we have the fish we realize that we don't have pliers or a 'line' or whatever it is called that you put the fish on and leave in the water so I have to run back to Popa's house. Good thing we were close. He did talk to another guy that was fishing by us and borrowed a line until I could get back. While Popa was gone talking the fish would lay really still and then jump up and down and go crazy and then be really still and then go crazy. One time while it was being still Rex went to get really close and it jumped and almost hit him in the face as he was bending over and it scared the daylights out of him. After that he didn't want anything to do with the fish.

So the next day Popa went and got my nephews and my niece and they went fishing again. We met them up at the lake. It was pretty cold so I planned on taking the little ones home after they played for a little bit. They didn't catch any fish but it was still fun.

Rex was a little more interested in the idea of fishing but I think it was more because Alex was there. He really likes Alex and makes sure to tell me about it when ever he is around saying, "I like Alex" after they have spent time playing together. It's super cute. So glad to have such a fun time with family fishing this weekend.

*I have more picture to post about the rest of the weekend but they are still on the camera so they will have to come later.

Holiday Traditions?

I'm so excited to be co-hosting with Melissa! I have been a long time reader & finally got around to co-hosting! I can't wait to see all of your holiday traditions & I'm sure add a few to my list too! Holiday Traditions? What are those? I'm not sure we have any set up in our family. We never really had anything that we did every year growing up either. So I'm not surprised that we haven't thought about setting anything up for our kids either. Last year we tried doing the  Three Wise Men Gifts  but I of course bought more than just 3 gifts. So what is the plan this year for holiday traditions in our house? Bass Pro Shop Winter Wonderland to visit Santa Three wise men gifts  One Santa gift plus the stocking Baking cookies at Granny & Great Popa's house Baking cookies at Grandma & Popa's house with cousins & then heading to the local fire department & police station to share with the men & women that keep us safe throug

My Pregnancy Story with Monkey

So I have one of those crazy "I didn't know I was pregnant" stories. Yes I didn't know I was pregnant until I was pretty far along but I will get to that.  In May 2008 we picked up and moved out of state. At this time we had been completely off birth control for 2 years and nothing. We also found out when we first started trying that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)  which basically meant "good luck getting pregnant". We decided that we would start the adoption process if we were not pregnant by the time we were 30 so we had a few years (still do actually! Yeah God!) So we were just enjoying life in Oklahoma and enjoying the small town life. Every Sunday morning we would walk down the street and enjoy breakfast at Selena's, we'd sit on our front porch and talk with the neighbors, and visit family in town at least once a week. Starting close to October I started feeling like something was wrong with me so I went to the OU campus in Tu
