Next Few Pre-Homeschool Plan

I was going to post all about our snow day but I can't get our pictures to upload so instead you can hear all about what I'm planning for our Pre-Homeschool for the next few weeks. Any homeschool followers that would love to leave some suggestions or thoughts would be great. Still trying to get the hang of all this.

So I decided that we would start out on Monday with All About Me for 2 weeks. We are going to learn about body parts, favorite things, and even some senses activities. I'm use to doing these activities with a class of 25 and they were all 4 and 5 year old's so I'm going to have to tailor my thinking to what a 2 year old can comprehend but I know I can do it. We are going to introduce scissors, cutting and glue for finding things in magazines that he likes. We are going to go to the library and get books about things that are about people, independence and hopefully some potty books. This is going to be something we talk a lot about. Read about why we are focusing on that here.

After All About Me week it will be time to talk about Thanksgiving and all the things we are thankful for. We will also be talking about Nutrition during these weeks too. This way we can tie in all the wonderful things that Thanksgiving and November have to offer. I'm really excited about this week because we are able to talk about all the blessings we have in our lives which will be a great way to start the Christmas season. We have some wonderful things planned for this season in teaching Rex some great lessons.

After Thanksgiving week we will then lead into Family week. We will have touched on family as part of the All About Me week but now we will go more in depth about it. We will start making some great personal gifts for family for Christmas that can be gifts from Rex (homemade are always the best kind for family!). I'm still working out the details for this week but I know it will be fun.

Then it will be time for Christmas lessons! I'm really excited about this. I have so many things running through my mind to do. I think I want to have a Christmas cards making with me mom's group and maybe add some cookie making too and then Rex and I (and whoever else wants to) are going to head over to a local nursing home (probably the Alzheimer's unit because they have a special place in my heart) and give the cards out and maybe even read the Christmas story to them. I have to figure out all the details for this but I know they will love it! I have 2 main lessons that I want to teach Rex during this time 1.) what Christmas is truly about, Jesus' birth and 2.) that he's very blessed to have everything he has and that we need to help others during this time. I'm going to be looking for activities for things we can do around our community that Rex can help with too so he learns about helping people.  I want to introduce it for the first time during this season where there are so many different ways to help and then include something at least once a month afterwards so we continue helping throughout the whole year.

Well it's about time to start our school lesson for today. Please let me know if you have any suggestions about fun activities that go with my themes, any volunteer ideas (this season or all year long), and share with me some post or just comment what are your favorite school activities to do with your kiddos!

Happy Father's Day!

Today is father's day and most people are getting together and celebrating with family. Dads, grandpas and uncles all celebrating together the joys of being a father. Maybe getting a chance to relax and enjoy just sitting around watching the kids play and being surrounded with family. That's what father's day has always looked like for us. We would always gather at my parents house. First, with my grandparents when I was growing up for dinner and a day of enjoying being together. Then as I grew older my sister and I would make sure to spend the day with our dad. Then we got married and had kids of our own and the tradition continued. We would bring all the kids and enjoy BBQing at my parents house enjoying time together. This year things are different. We can't just jump in the car and head over for a BBQ. We can't sit around on the couch or on the patio talking and laughing together. This year we are 12 hours away from where I've always been for father...

Today I'm thankful for the snow outside and the fact that it has kept my hubby home with us today and the fact that just using google and a few other blogs for ideas I was able to find out how to make a link up!  Link ups are fun and I can't wait to read what everyone else is thankful for this month! Grab the button, link up, follow along or just read! Week #2 on THM

Well it's officially the end of week 2 on Trim Healthy Mama! I have tried some more new recipes from the book and from pinterest and I'm having so much fun with it. I also order some xylitol online to save money. I didn't realize how much sweetener I would be using but when you can make sweets for any meal or snack through out the day you can use quite a bit. Favorite Meals this week E pancakes from the book! Yum! I added in frozen berries to them while cooking and they were great and the boys loved them too. They got to have the added whipped cream or syrup on theirs. Fat Stripping Frappa! OMGOSH! This is going to be my go to summer morning drink! I can see myself making one of these up first thing in the morning to get my day going and then enjoying a yummy breakfast 3 hours later. Soon as warm weather hits Hubby's schedule will be packed full daily so my mornings will start early, like 5am early! So having a breakfast at 8:30 will be perfect timing! Cheese ...
