Finally starting our homeschool

So we are finally starting our schooling this fall. With our vacation I didn't want to start before we left and I wanted to get back and into the normal routine before we started so here we are on day 2 and we haven't accomplished a bunch.  Yesterday we hit the library for all of their D books and Dinosaur books. The Natural Science Museum has their exhibit on Dinosaurs so I figured this was a great place to start. I also printed out some color sheets and a few counting sheets.

I'm very excited to get started! I have official school time on the daily calendar and tomorrow will be our first day using it. I plan to spend 2 weeks on each theme.

On the schedule this week. Feeding ducks at the park.Going to the museum to see dinosaurs. Talking about Daddy and making special projects for him. Coloring pictures of deer, dolphins, dogs, dinosaurs.... I was trying to find some matching activities with the d sound or some counting activities online but didn't have much luck. Trying to decided if I want to make my own for this theme or just wait and start making a more in depth plan for our next theme...pumpkins!

I would love to have some suggestions from more experienced mom's about where to go to get cheap or free preschool activities. Being new at this I'm just not sure about all this. That's one of the reasons we are starting so early. I want to be very prepared and into a routine by the time that Rex has reached official schooling age. I know lots of things to do with him when he's older (like 4 and 5) because that was what I taught before he came along. Now it's time to research out the younger activities, find a homeschooling group that can help support us and give us ideas.

I'm very excited to get this going and I will be more and more involved in planning as we go along. This month just surprised me with how quick it came.

Sorry for the not very thought out post. Just decided to sit down and write it up really quick. Hopefully future posts about homeschooling will be more thought out.

The League of Incredible Vegetables: Movie Review

Picture borrowed from  Christian Film Database Another movie review! I was so thrilled when I was walking through Best Buy before Christmas and saw this  DVD sitting on the shelf. If you are a boy mom like myself you know that they love super heroes. I struggle to find age appropriated super hero movies for Monkey to watch. He loves Spiderman, Batman, Iron Man, ect. and he has not seen any of the movies/shows that go along with them. Wait...he did watch The Avengers with Daddy one day while I was out. I haven't seen that one so I can't say what I think of it for a 3 year old. Anyway, I love Veggie Tale movies! I think that they do a good job of teaching lessons to kids in a way that they understand and I love the lessons they teach! This one is great because it is about fear and how if you trust God fear can't freeze you. If you have kids, especially boys this movie is great! It helps them get the superheros they want to watch without the bad guys th...

Y3W: I hate drama!

I really consider myself and my life pretty drama free. I try my best to keep people that seek after drama at a distance because I really just don't feel like dealing with it. I have certain family that automatically causes it but you know they are family and there isn't much you can do about it but set up boundaries to not allow it to affect your daily life. Which we do! I love all my extended family but sometimes, seriously, just grow up, stop acting like the world revolves around you and get over it. You children have their own families now! Anyway! After dealing with more family drama (disclaimer: the person I'm talking about would not be reading this so if your family and you are it's not you that I'm complaining about :) then I get a nasty note from a neighbor who is just plain being rude. And I love how they waited until I left before putting the note of the door. I haven't had a car for almost 3 full months and this week my hubby finally got his motorcy...
