So I'm back from my wonderful break from reality. Going to OK was fun and I really enjoyed not being in the normal routine of everyday life, although I did spend most of my time watching kids and cleaning up after them, it was still different and mostly relaxing. While I was out there I figured that I gained all my weight back but when I got home and got on the scale I'm proud to say I didn't gain a pound. Which I have to tell you between all the Chinese buffets and Braum's ice cream runs I'm pretty shocked that the number didn't go up. Just one more note about my trip I have to acknowledge my sister-in-law as one of the bravest and strongest women I know personally. She has so much on her plate and she is able to deal with everyday life without making it look difficult. I'm super proud of her and all she is doing for herself and her kids. It's awesome to see.
Today was Rex's 2nd birthday party and although we had several last minute changes like place and time it worked out really well. He had to get everything done in an hour so it was pretty fast paced but with a bunch of kids what do you expect to do. They don't like just hanging around talking like us adults.
We started off doing a craft which I think most people thought I was crazy doing because we made hand print cars. Yes, I had kids paint their hands and put them on paper and then paint on tires to make cars. I personally thought it was really cute and I have to say it was so much easier to do it with so many adults around to help. I use to do this all the time when I was teaching preschool but it was just me and my assistant teacher with 20 kids. Today was a breeze!
Right after we got that cleaned up we sang Happy Birthday (which kind of freaked Rex out) and then had cake. I'm so proud of my boy...he didn't even eat all his cake! I gave him a pretty big piece thinking "It's his birthday, he can have sugar" and then he shows me that he doesn't even want it all.
After cake was presents and he had so much fun opening them all up and he got some awesome things...talking dino's, blocks, cars, race car mat, bubbles, puzzles, coloring books, a monkey and some adorable clothes for this summer!
He is one spoiled child. Tonight from his other Grandma he got a whole box of different animals, a doodle pad for the car, and a bat and ball. And a sneak peak for tomorrow...more presents! A new bike, a Buzz Lightyear, and Toy Story 2 and 3. Next weekend...Garage sale to clear some room for the new toys but it looks like it will be mostly Mom and Dad things going and just some of Rex's.
