Give Me That Girl is a country song that I have loved for quite a while. I don't normally listen to country music unless my husband's around and I'm almost certain that it was his favorite song before mine. I bought it on iTunes and have listened to it for months but this morning something all of a sudden hit me. If you listen to the lyrics it's talking about wanting the normal every day moments. I have posted before about dressing for your husband and not allowing yourself as a homemaker to just live in PJ's but today this song stood out to me. My husband wants the normal every day girl too! He doesn't want me all dolled up every day (and thank goodness because I don't do it). One of my favorite lines today was "Give me that girl thats beautiful without a trace of make up on barefoot in the kitchen singin' her favorite song". Why? Well that exactly what I was doing! I had just got out of the shower and dressed and came down to cook breakfast. I turned on my ipod and that song came on and I was singing along! I haven't put on any makeup, done my hair, or have shoe's on yet. Although I completely agree with my other post about dressing for my husband I also see the need to just be comfortable and relaxed too. I'm so glad this song showed me that today! Although I'm getting dressed today (heading out to the zoo) I know that if there are days that I'm not dressed that those are just as important for both myself and for my husband!
Media is neither good or bad. Last week I talked about media in our marriage and a little bit about our family and media but today is all about Rex and media. Rex loves cartoons! Right now he happens to be watching Veggie Tales while eating lunch. This is not a normal thing at all. I can't remember the last time he was eating while watching TV. Today we had a crazy time and he asked to watch a movie and I didn't have a problem with it. Plus it's Veggie Tales. We have a limit (during mommy in charge time) that he is only allowed to watch one movie/TV show each day and some days we don't watch anything. When daddy gets home things change and the TV is on within minutes of being home. Rex normally doesn't care that the TV is on because of our daily activities. He plays or helps me cook unless daddy is watching adult cartoons then he is more interested. This past winter I found us watching more TV than I planned ever to let my children watch. So once it start...
Great perspective. Have fun at the zoo!
