It's May 1st and I said that I should be back to blogging by then. Now that M is home and recovering well and Rex has recovered from his surgery during all the other craziness I thought that today would be a great time to start again with Toddle Along Tuesday Bedtime Routine!
For our household now that we have grandparents too has gotten a little more complicated and longer of a process. We start at 8:00pm most nights in hopes of having Rex in bed by 8:30pm.
At 8:00pm we have Rex start cleaning up all his toys. He actually doesn't complain much about it. He does take his time and it seems like it takes forever most nights but we just let him go at his own pace because otherwise it's stressful for all of us. It's only when he isn't cleaning that we remind him what he is suppose to be doing.
After he gets everything cleaned up he gives everyone loves and kisses. Originally loves was to be hugs and kisses to make it shorter but now it's just hugs and cuddles and then he has to give kisses too.
After loves he goes potty while Mommy (sometimes Daddy depending on Rex's preference) gets his jammies ready. Once he's in his room we get his diaper on (a regression from his surgery, he was potty trained through the night before his surgery) then jammies on, he gives us loves and kisses and then he crawls into bed.
He gets a choice on what blanket he wants and if he wants to hide under them or not. He has two pillows, one Lightning McQueen and one Mater, that he got for his birthday. He also normally takes a stuffed animal to bed too. He normally chooses Clifford or his bear that Popa gave him. I turn on the radio to KLove, turn on his heater and close the door.
Most nights he is content just like that. There are some nights when he wakes up to go potty at night and needs help with his diaper where before he would just go and let Mommy sleep. And some nights he throws everything off the bed and I have to cover him up with his blanket before I go to bed.
Our nights really have been this easy since he was about 2 months old after he finally got off the blue lights (around 6 months old). He basically slept through the night from the beginning. Now I can only hope that the second one will be just as easy...probably not ;)

Picture borrowed from Christian Film Database Another movie review! I was so thrilled when I was walking through Best Buy before Christmas and saw this DVD sitting on the shelf. If you are a boy mom like myself you know that they love super heroes. I struggle to find age appropriated super hero movies for Monkey to watch. He loves Spiderman, Batman, Iron Man, ect. and he has not seen any of the movies/shows that go along with them. Wait...he did watch The Avengers with Daddy one day while I was out. I haven't seen that one so I can't say what I think of it for a 3 year old. Anyway, I love Veggie Tale movies! I think that they do a good job of teaching lessons to kids in a way that they understand and I love the lessons they teach! This one is great because it is about fear and how if you trust God fear can't freeze you. If you have kids, especially boys this movie is great! It helps them get the superheros they want to watch without the bad guys th...
