Recovering Our Couch!

Hubby informed me that he didn't like our couch that we had about a month ago. So being a good wife I found another one at a garage sale, sent him pictures and got the go ahead to replace it. Well about 3 weeks later he told me that he didn't like that one either but he found one that he really loved and wanted to bring it home...with my permission.
Well I couldn't say no because the couch we had was hurting his back and he needs to be able to relax when he's home. The problem is that the couch he wanted to bring home was old and didn't really match what I wanted for our new house. So I agreed to bring it home if he would let me recover it. So I went and got the couch and brought it home. We headed to the store to "just look" at fabric and they were having a HUGE sale and we were able to get all our supplies for 50% off. We couldn't pass up on that deal so we moved forward and bought everything we needed and planned to work on the couch Sunday after church.
We started with the back because that was the easiest. Then it was on to the arms. That was a little more difficult. We were determined to not sew anything! Being that I can't sew it wasn't really an option. We used Hubby's staple gun and compressor for the whole project.
I LOVE how it turned out! I LOVE the fabric that we chose! I can't wait to see how it looks once we get our tiny house built and move this wonderful looking couch into it!  I know it will look great!
I also had some black fabric laying around and decided to use it to cover the used ottomans we bought. Leather is not a friend in the heat and the humidity so I was glad to have extra batting and fabric laying around. They actually look great next to the couch. Of course these won't be moving with us as we will be building our own storage/ottoman/dining stools for the tiny house. Gotta make every piece of furniture work for many things when you have limited space!

What do you think? Do you think we did a good job?

Happy Father's Day!

Today is father's day and most people are getting together and celebrating with family. Dads, grandpas and uncles all celebrating together the joys of being a father. Maybe getting a chance to relax and enjoy just sitting around watching the kids play and being surrounded with family. That's what father's day has always looked like for us. We would always gather at my parents house. First, with my grandparents when I was growing up for dinner and a day of enjoying being together. Then as I grew older my sister and I would make sure to spend the day with our dad. Then we got married and had kids of our own and the tradition continued. We would bring all the kids and enjoy BBQing at my parents house enjoying time together. This year things are different. We can't just jump in the car and head over for a BBQ. We can't sit around on the couch or on the patio talking and laughing together. This year we are 12 hours away from where I've always been for father...

Week #2 on THM

Well it's officially the end of week 2 on Trim Healthy Mama! I have tried some more new recipes from the book and from pinterest and I'm having so much fun with it. I also order some xylitol online to save money. I didn't realize how much sweetener I would be using but when you can make sweets for any meal or snack through out the day you can use quite a bit. Favorite Meals this week E pancakes from the book! Yum! I added in frozen berries to them while cooking and they were great and the boys loved them too. They got to have the added whipped cream or syrup on theirs. Fat Stripping Frappa! OMGOSH! This is going to be my go to summer morning drink! I can see myself making one of these up first thing in the morning to get my day going and then enjoying a yummy breakfast 3 hours later. Soon as warm weather hits Hubby's schedule will be packed full daily so my mornings will start early, like 5am early! So having a breakfast at 8:30 will be perfect timing! Cheese ...
