We all know we are suppose to have plenty of fruits and veggies in our diet to remain healthy. Of course there are other things we need as well but today's focus is fruits and veggies.
When talking with a few friends we discovered that many of us struggled with mood conditions anxiety, depression, panic attacks, as well as weight issues.
One of my friends shared how she was able to heal her anxiety and panic attacks through diet. By making sure she got 10 servings of fruits and veggies in the early part of the day she would feel full longer, have more energy, and feel less anxiety. She also shared that as long as she followed this plan she was mo longer having panic attacks.
This inspired me to make some changes in the way I eat and the way I feed my boys.
Remember back when we had our horrible health month and then what followed after that was a death of someone very important to me and then the birth of Goose.Well I struggled with my mood after that. I would go up and down throughout the day or week between being happy and completely exhausted.
So I watched the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead as suggested by my friend and then started to add in many fruits and veggies to my meals.
Smoothies have become a go to for me. Whether it is breakfast or a snack it is a great way to combine fruits and veggies into a tasty treat.
Here's how I do it. I buy packaged frozen fruit from the store. Any kind that sounds yummy to you. In my freezer at the moment I have a strawberry banana mix and some blueberries. Then I add in my veggies. It can almost be anything. I tent to stick to spinach and carrots because I can buy large packages for a good price from a local bulk store. I also used pumpkin puree when I want to mix it up. Then I add in my coconut milk or water depending on the calories I want to add and then I blend it up.
I have to tell you the best par of adding in these smoothies to my diet is not a personal benefit. My favorite part is that my kids LOVE them! Every time I have a smoothie so do my boys so they enjoy the health benefits of having many fruits and veggies in their diet too.
Also I lost 8 pounds the first week replacing breakfast with a smoothie and sticking to mostly veggies for lunch! It was awesome!
