Real Life Homeschool Excitement!

So I'm super energized tonight even though I feel horrible! I have some kind of congestion cold going on which means little sleep for me on the couch so instead of sleeping I'm up and preparing lessons and activities  for the next week or so for Monkey.

He is asking all sorts of questions about the mail man and how his letters are going to get to his cousins in Oklahoma so this is where I'm starting! We are going to study all about our community and the people that help us in our community. I'm so excited!

I'm looking online for different activities and books to check out from the library. I'm going to get the number to the local fire department, police station, post office, and maybe more to set up field trips to and I will be inviting my wonderful mom's group with us. I could see this turning into a whole month of learning about this huge topic.

I have to say this is what I'm excited for with choosing homeschooling over public school. I get to go with what Monkey is interested in at the time and carry that our into so many different and fun ways to learn! I'm struggling a bit with my teacher past and having to plan everything and make things flow into one another but I'm not going to worry about the flow. If we spend this month learning about community and next month Monkey wants to study dinosaurs and then space, I'm fine with that!

I'm going to go with the flow! Now for April I will have to plan a little more ahead than I think I will normally do for a theme and that's because we will be in Oklahoma for the month so I will have to go prepared to not only teach Monkey but his cousins as well. It will be fun to do activities with them too.

I'm so excited and I all of a sudden feel FREE! I don't feel stressed about this for the first time ever! I'm not going to let anything get me down!

...OK I really need to get back to work on planning while I'm on a role I just really wanted to share :)

Happy Father's Day!

Today is father's day and most people are getting together and celebrating with family. Dads, grandpas and uncles all celebrating together the joys of being a father. Maybe getting a chance to relax and enjoy just sitting around watching the kids play and being surrounded with family. That's what father's day has always looked like for us. We would always gather at my parents house. First, with my grandparents when I was growing up for dinner and a day of enjoying being together. Then as I grew older my sister and I would make sure to spend the day with our dad. Then we got married and had kids of our own and the tradition continued. We would bring all the kids and enjoy BBQing at my parents house enjoying time together. This year things are different. We can't just jump in the car and head over for a BBQ. We can't sit around on the couch or on the patio talking and laughing together. This year we are 12 hours away from where I've always been for father...

The ABC's of Our Family

I got a great idea from this lovely  blog  about doing a ABC photo book through out the year. Each week taking one photo that goes along with a letter. I have seen lots of great ideas for different photo blog ideas but all seem like to much work and something that I know I wouldn't be able to do. This one seems reasonable for our crazy life.  So to start off I have chose a great picture that I took of Rex and M playing together one day when he got home from work. Rex is so ADORABLE in this picture I just knew this was what I had to use! Plus I already know what I'm using for next week even though the picture hasn't been taken yet.  So here it is.......ADORABLE Rex playing with his Daddy! Oh I just can't get enough of this guy. Also as a little side note to how adorable he is...he kept posing for the camera once I got. He didn't care that Mommy was watching him play and wouldn't even look at me but soon as the camera was out he had to keep turning and...

12 Week Bumpdate

Yesterday we had our 12 week ultrasound and I enjoyed it so much! We were able to see our baby's face and she  (we didn't find anything out about the sex just hard to talk without he's and she's) had her hands up by her face. It was so cute. We also have a very stubborn child. The poor tech had such a hard time trying to get the measurements that she needed. She kept trying to get the baby to move. She had me move trying to get to the baby to move and nothing. So we were able to enjoy watching our baby on the screen for at least 20 minutes while she did her best to get the pictures she needed.  I'm a little bummed by the photo she gave us to take home. There were so many good photos where you could see so much and then right at the end she gave us a quick photo that isn't great but I will share it anyway. Like I said bad right. Well so it can help the baby's head in on the right side, Her hand is the white blob in front of her face and then you can b...
