We haven't had any problems teething with our monkey. All his teeth came in perfectly fine with very little discomfort to him. No all nighters screaming, maybe just a picky eater. Last night though his poor little 2 year old molars decided to make themselves known and I was up half the night with a very unhappy child. He's so independent that he didn't want me to cuddle with him, he didn't want Mommy really at all but would scream when I left. I finally got him to cuddle with me for about 20 minutes in the rocker and I think it was just enough to take the pressure off his ears so he could fall asleep. He then slept the rest of the night (or I just slept through his crying which is possible). It never fails that things like this happen on the nights before you have a busy day ahead with no specific nap time for him in site. Today should be interesting but a mom always has to be ready for the unexpected so I will be packing a tricks bag with me today and have plenty of activities for him to be entertained while we are visiting with people. Now I just need to figure out what's going to go in my trick bag.
Today is father's day and most people are getting together and celebrating with family. Dads, grandpas and uncles all celebrating together the joys of being a father. Maybe getting a chance to relax and enjoy just sitting around watching the kids play and being surrounded with family. That's what father's day has always looked like for us. We would always gather at my parents house. First, with my grandparents when I was growing up for dinner and a day of enjoying being together. Then as I grew older my sister and I would make sure to spend the day with our dad. Then we got married and had kids of our own and the tradition continued. We would bring all the kids and enjoy BBQing at my parents house enjoying time together. This year things are different. We can't just jump in the car and head over for a BBQ. We can't sit around on the couch or on the patio talking and laughing together. This year we are 12 hours away from where I've always been for father...
