Holiday Traditions?

I'm so excited to be co-hosting with Melissa! I have been a long time reader & finally got around to co-hosting! I can't wait to see all of your holiday traditions & I'm sure add a few to my list too!
Holiday Traditions? What are those? I'm not sure we have any set up in our family. We never really had anything that we did every year growing up either. So I'm not surprised that we haven't thought about setting anything up for our kids either. Last year we tried doing the Three Wise Men Gifts but I of course bought more than just 3 gifts. So what is the plan this year for holiday traditions in our house?
  • Bass Pro Shop Winter Wonderland to visit Santa
  • Three wise men gifts 
  • One Santa gift plus the stocking
  • Baking cookies at Granny & Great Popa's house
  • Baking cookies at Grandma & Popa's house with cousins & then heading to the local fire department & police station to share with the men & women that keep us safe throughout the year!
  • Christmas Eve church together as a family (one of the few times a year the hubby joins us)
  • Have a birthday cake for Jesus!
Our goal for the Christmas season? To celebrate the birth of Christ & spend time with family & friends!

    I love the idea of bringing cookies to a nearby fire department! We did this with our church last year (that same department actually responded in spring when our church nearly burned to the ground... nice to know we can do a little something in return!) - what a great idea to do it in your neighborhood! I'm going to write that one down...

    Looks like fun! We have a Cabela's here in Austin that is doing the same kind of thing and I really want to go!

      It really is fun! My dad took Rex one week and then we went as a whole family the following week. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up there again before the Christmas season is over.

    We always used to have a birthday cake for Jesus when I was little...love that idea and have to remember to do it with my kids! I think my son might be old enough to understand next year. :)

      I actually have to give my mom the kudos for this one. She started it to help my nephews understand the true meaning of Christmas. I think it's a great idea just as a reminder. I think we are going to start reading the Christmas story before we open gifts as well to help us all remember why we are celebrating Christmas. I got that idea from another blog that linked up :)

      I thought about sharing the cookies for 2 reasons. One, we do not need to have a ton of cookies in the house! I'm losing weight even through the holidays so I need them to be gone ;) Two, and more importantly, I want my boys to have a giving spirit and we all know that the police, firemen, and EMT's are unappreciated.... I also think my boys are adorable, Thank you!

Y3W: I hate drama!

I really consider myself and my life pretty drama free. I try my best to keep people that seek after drama at a distance because I really just don't feel like dealing with it. I have certain family that automatically causes it but you know they are family and there isn't much you can do about it but set up boundaries to not allow it to affect your daily life. Which we do! I love all my extended family but sometimes, seriously, just grow up, stop acting like the world revolves around you and get over it. You children have their own families now! Anyway! After dealing with more family drama (disclaimer: the person I'm talking about would not be reading this so if your family and you are it's not you that I'm complaining about :) then I get a nasty note from a neighbor who is just plain being rude.
