People Don't Always Get Me

I'm a mom that chooses the natural path. I delivered Monkey naturally and plan to do the same with this next baby as well. My husband and I both agreed that we would not vaccinate Monkey when he was born and the next baby too. Once he was born and he was having some health problems we felt even more strongly about it. At least to wait until after we figured out what was going on.

Well Monkey is going to be 3 in March and we still have a vaccine free kid with no immediate plans to change it. It works for us and Monkey seems to be doing just find without them. Who knows what the future holds but we are happy with where we are.

Well now Monkey is sick. Just a normal cold with a cough and fever. I hate watching him suffer but at the same time I know that choosing natural ways may take longer but I feel that in the long run it will be better for him.

So we are using a homeopathic flu medicine, a homeopathic cold medicine that is helping his cough and runny nose and then a few other things that my aunt suggested that will help. I went to the store and bought apples and carrots and juiced them. This is suppose to be good for everyone and help keep our immune systems up which is good with a household that has lower immune systems for one thing or another. Also then we are using peppermint oil (or lemon oil) to put on his feet and down his back. Also something else that we are doing is garlic and light olive oil. You are suppose to let the garlic soak in the olive oil for two weeks and then give them about  a teaspoon every couple of hours. Since we can't wait two weeks we are just using it now and will keep it around the house for the future. This also is suppose to make a great dip for veggies or dressing for salad. I'm excited to try these new things and see how well they work.

Now so you understand why I trust my aunt so much with her advice. First she has 7 kids and has had lots of experience using these techniques. Also she has done research for ways to heal naturally. She also has lots of contacts that have many years experience and training in this area. Another reason is that she is homeschooling all of her kids and they have studied this stuff for school as well. And last because I have used many other things she has suggested and they work great! Better than medicines that I have had from the doctor so I trust them!

I believe that everyone has the right to do what they want to do. People can choose what they feel is right for their family. I know that many people don't get me for my choices but it works for my family and that is what matters to me.

Happy Father's Day!

Today is father's day and most people are getting together and celebrating with family. Dads, grandpas and uncles all celebrating together the joys of being a father. Maybe getting a chance to relax and enjoy just sitting around watching the kids play and being surrounded with family. That's what father's day has always looked like for us. We would always gather at my parents house. First, with my grandparents when I was growing up for dinner and a day of enjoying being together. Then as I grew older my sister and I would make sure to spend the day with our dad. Then we got married and had kids of our own and the tradition continued. We would bring all the kids and enjoy BBQing at my parents house enjoying time together. This year things are different. We can't just jump in the car and head over for a BBQ. We can't sit around on the couch or on the patio talking and laughing together. This year we are 12 hours away from where I've always been for father...

The ABC's of Our Family

I got a great idea from this lovely  blog  about doing a ABC photo book through out the year. Each week taking one photo that goes along with a letter. I have seen lots of great ideas for different photo blog ideas but all seem like to much work and something that I know I wouldn't be able to do. This one seems reasonable for our crazy life.  So to start off I have chose a great picture that I took of Rex and M playing together one day when he got home from work. Rex is so ADORABLE in this picture I just knew this was what I had to use! Plus I already know what I'm using for next week even though the picture hasn't been taken yet.  So here it is.......ADORABLE Rex playing with his Daddy! Oh I just can't get enough of this guy. Also as a little side note to how adorable he is...he kept posing for the camera once I got. He didn't care that Mommy was watching him play and wouldn't even look at me but soon as the camera was out he had to keep turning and...

Baby Bumpdate: Week 35

35 Weeks! That means only 5 left!!!! Holy cow!!! I think I'm starting to freak out just a little!!! How far along? 35 Weeks! Yea! How big is baby?  He's about 18 inches and just over 5 pounds. Weight gain? I gained a pound last week. Maternity Clothes?  Of course. I'm living in tanks right now because of the heat. Just wish I had more shorts to wear. Stretch Marks?  Nothing new. Just the ones from before and Monkey. Sleep? With this cold I'm not sleeping much. I'm getting a little better and able to sleep about 4 to 6 hours at night and then at nap time I'm able to get 1 or 2 more hours of sleep. However, I'm still exhausted especially because of the heat. It just drains all my energy. Even when I'm sitting in the shade under a fan. Of course it's only June so I'm not sure how this heat thing will effect me in July :/ Best Moment this Week?  Monkey kissing my belly before he went down for a nap. It was so cute. He ...
