I shared our official plans on facebook but I know not everyone saw it so I want to make sure and share here. These are the final plans. Nothing can be changed now because we have already framed all the first floor walls.
This is the first floor and we have all the walls framed. It's exciting to see things coming together. I can finally start to visualize what it will look like and how small it will actually be. I love it though! We are so excited to see it coming together and the boys are starting to be able to see it too. I think that's the most exciting part! Goose can give you a complete tour of where every room is going to be. Goose loves being outside hanging out with Daddy while he's working.
I have been asked how in the world we are all going to fit in this tiny house and I'm hoping this will show some of the ways we are going to make it work with a growing family. The boys will both be on top bunk beds and we are making the bottom beds to fold up against the wall so they have more floor space to play. The new baby will be sleeping in a family bassinet for a few months and then the baby will be in a pack-n-play that will either be in the boys room or in ours. We will have to wait and see the temperament of the baby before we decide. We are also going to be building a reading loft above their room that we will fill with books, pillows and stuffed animals and other quiet activities.
Our tiny house is on wheels but it is only going to be moved once. We chose to build our house on a trailer because we needed to build it where we are living and then move it. We couldn't build it on our property but once we move it there we will be taking the wheels off and putting it on a real foundation. We have even worked out a way to expand our tiny house into a larger house in the future as the kids grow if we feel the need to do it. We also have considered that when our boys are about 10 to 12 they can start building their own tiny house to move into by 16 but of course staying on our property.
Next summer we will also be building a deck around our house as well. Our plan is to have at least a 15 foot deck off the front with a patio cover to keep it shaded. We want to go around the whole house but for starters it will just be the front. And don't forget we will have a full 10 acres to care for and currently it's a complete mess so next summer we will have plenty of work to keep us busy and out of the house.
So yes we are a growing family that is moving into a tiny house but we are going to have plenty of space both inside and outside to enjoy together as a family. We won't have a lot of space to disappear and get away from each other but I don't really want that kind of life for my family anyway! When we need a break from each other we can head outside and get some work done!
