There are so many things we should be doing in our everyday life that get pushed aside but praying for our husband's should not be one of them.
I admit that this is something that I struggle with...well praying in general on most days.
I learned how to pray for my husband years ago in the early days of our marriage. First you pray for yourself, not selfishly but confessing your sins, asking for healing in areas that need it, and then asking for help in the areas you are struggling. Then after that you can pray for your husband.
Why are we suppose to pray this way? Well, because we need to have a clean heart to pray honestly for our husbands and not selfishly.
We have to remember to ask God to clean our hearts, to help us become the wife he wants us to be, to change our hearts towards our husbands, to help us to love him unconditionally right where he is.
Once our hearts are right then we pray for our husbands hearts. To give him strength to deal with the struggles he's facing, to give him wisdom in leading the household, and if changes are a desire of yours then to ask God to help your husband change in His ways not your own.
A wife's prayers have so much power when backed by God. We are the ones that have the biggest influence when we pray because he is "united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one." (Matthew 19:5,6) We are the only ones that are closely united to our husbands.
I'm entering a season of life where I'm committing to praying. Praying for my husband and children first and foremost. I'm using the books "The Power of a Praying Wife", "The Power of a Praying Parent" and of course the Bible, to assist me in getting started. Please join in me praying for our families and let's share what changes we see as we go through this season!
My power verse for this week of praying for my hubby...
Whatever thing you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
Mark 11:24, 25
